Soquel Elementary Garden

The mural was intended to create a space for students, grade K-5, to learn about the basic components of a garden ecosystem. It was designed in a way that would hopefully educate students on the inner workings of the garden and also encourage them to get up close and personal with the natural world. This mural comes with a corresponding garden curriculum including lessons and activities about science and nature using themes and elements from the mural. The curriculum is broken down into four basic themes: Patterns in Nature, Garden ecosystems and life cycles, Botanical breakdown and Pollination.

This mural was part of a larger project in which the PVSF renovated a public space for the community, and specifically at-risk youth, to gather over a shared love of soccer. The design pays tribute to our local agriculture industry and farm workers and highlights two local soccer teams, the Aztecs and Pajaro United.
